MISUMI USA’s catalogue instructions distinguish a sample 3D preview from a preview generated after a part number is specified. That distinction matters when a sourcing team passes a drawing to engineering or attaches it to a supplier enquiry. The visible shape alone does not identify the configuration being requested.
This article reads MISUMI’s own download instructions, checked on 2 October 2026. No configurable part was selected, no CAD file was downloaded and no design was approved.
The catalogue describes a sequence
The official USA guide says to select or enter specifications and dimensions so that a part number appears, then use CAD Download/Preview. It also says downloading requires login and that some products may have no CAD data.
The mechanical-components section explicitly describes a sample-product preview when no part number has been specified. Consequently, a screenshot made before configuration should not be labelled as the exact component on a quotation. This is the provider’s published interface behaviour, not an independently tested delivery capability.
Connect the drawing to an identifier
Our editorial recommendation is to keep the selected part number with the file name, download date, format and displayed configuration. The record should let another person identify the intended object without guessing from a thumbnail.
If a requirement changes, check whether the identifier and drawing also change. Retaining the earlier file for history is useful, but it should not remain attached to a request for a different configuration. A procurement enquiry and an engineering approval can reference the same file while still recording their separate decisions.
Catalogue data and supplier terms remain separate
A drawing does not establish a current price, minimum order quantity, manufacturing slot or delivery date. Those facts need a dated response for the exact component and destination. No commercial quotation was obtained for this article.
Likewise, a downloadable model is not evidence that this publication inspected a factory or certified dimensions on a delivered part. We have not measured a physical component, checked material certificates or assessed whether a design is suitable for a safety-critical use.
A useful review before handover
- Confirm whether the file represents a sample or a selected configuration.
- Match its part number to the current enquiry and supporting documents.
- Keep the engineering decision separate from the commercial response.
- Mark unavailable CAD data or an unconfirmed configuration as unresolved.
These are editorial document-control suggestions, not additional MISUMI conditions or engineering instructions. They support a reviewable sourcing file while preserving the provider’s actual evidence scope. For a live purchase, recheck the current regional catalogue and have the responsible technical reviewer assess the specific design rather than treating a preview as approval.
