LOCTITE 401 document dates: a generated PDF date does not establish a new technical revision

The official English technical data sheet currently available at Henkel’s LOCTITE 401 PDF address carries a February 2012 technical-sheet heading. Its final-page footer reports document creation and digital signing in November 2025. A sourcing file should retain both pieces of information with their labels. Treating the later footer as a new technical revision would introduce a conclusion the heading does not establish.

This is a document-identification review, checked on 3 October 2026. We have not authenticated the cryptographic signature, inspected adhesive or assessed an application.

Two dates with different descriptions

The Henkel-hosted LOCTITE 401 technical data sheet repeats February 2012 in its headings. The final footer states that the document was created and digitally signed by tdx.henkel.com on 28 November 2025. The text also ties validity to manufacturing dates and directs readers to an SDS for safe-handling information.

These observations describe this linked file. They do not establish the latest technical revision for every region or batch. The manufacturing-date reference is not resolved by this review, and no current destination-specific SDS or batch document was obtained.

Label the date rather than choosing the newest one

Our editorial recommendation is to use separate record fields for technical-sheet heading date, file-generation statement and the date you accessed the file. An access date describes your research. A generated-file date describes the footer’s statement. Neither should silently replace the technical date printed in the document.

This matters when a supplier attaches a freshly downloaded document to an older stock enquiry. The recent download might help locate the source, but it does not identify the offered lot or prove that the contents were technically revised during that download. Ask for the applicable document and batch reference instead of resolving the gap through the file timestamp.

Keep the product identity exact

Retain the product designation, language and source address with the attachment. Do not shorten the identity to a broad adhesive category when another similarly named product may have a separate document. Packaging and seller references belong beside the evidence if supplied, rather than being invented from the generic sheet.

A technical data sheet is also not a supplier appointment, batch certificate or proof that a physical item is genuine. The evidence required for those assertions has not been collected here. Procurement should preserve each document’s stated role instead of allowing one attachment to stand for an entire approval file.

What remains on hold

Needs editor verification: the applicable current technical revision, the unresolved manufacturing-date reference and the destination-specific safety document for an actual offered lot. The named manufacturer or responsible technical reviewer should resolve those questions with the relevant records.

This article offers an editorial method for dating a document. It gives no chemical handling instructions, material compatibility judgement, food-contact conclusion or production-use approval. Source availability alone does not establish suitability. Keep any engineering, safety or regulatory decision outside the scope of this document note and with qualified reviewers.
